At Ayresome Primary, our approach to teaching Mathematics is rooted in fostering a deep, lasting

we embrace a “Mastery” approach, which prioritises a comprehensive grasp of mathematical
ideas over rote memorisation.
White Rose Maths Framework
White Rose Maths is a well-respected program that structures learning to build knowledge
systematically. This framework breaks down complex mathematical concepts into smaller,
manageable steps, ensuring every child can develop a confident, thorough understanding. Each
lesson is crafted to support students in connecting ideas, practicing skills, and applying

The Mastery Approach
