Languages
At Ayresome Primary School, our Languages curriculum introduces students to Latin through the Classics for All programme, providing a strong foundation in language skills and cultural understanding. Latin not only enhances students’ vocabulary and grammar skills but also deepens their appreciation for the roots of many modern languages, including English. This supports a lot of pupils in our school due to the diverse languages spoken – we would consider our school a school of language.Through engaging activities and storytelling, students explore Latin vocabulary, sentence structure, and Roman culture, making connections between ancient civilisations and modern life. This early exposure to Latin helps develop linguistic confidence, analytical skills, and a love for language learning, preparing students for future language studies.
